Ringtest March – April 2021
The Ringtest organised by EiraNet Grain Network took place March – April 2021. Participants were from Latvia and Estonia. Some participated laboratories/instruments are not Grain Network members.
Ringtest sample set: 2 wheat, 2 barley and 2 rapeseed samples.
Reference results provided by EiraLab laboratory.
Results are presented by modified Youden (William J. Youden) plots.
Here you can find description in english: – Youden plot.
See the following graphs:
Horizontal axis (Dif 1) – 1-st sample differences, vertical axis (Dif 2) – 2-nd sample differences.
Results within green rectangle (ZF < 1) and yellow rectangle (1 < ZF < 2) are good.
Results between red and yellow rectangle (2 < ZF < 3) are acceptable.
Results outside red rectangle (ZF > 3) are not acceptable.
Z-score (ZF) is a performance criterion for the participating laboratories (or instruments). It is calculated by dividing the difference (lab.res.-ref.res.) by the standard deviation of the grain network.
If results are outside yellow rectangle, more attention should be paid to the instrument technical condition, appropriate usage, calibration, etc.

Protein results are compared as protein DM. For wheat nitrogen factor N=5,7; for barley N=6,25. Answers reported per other moisture basis or other nitrogen factor were recalculated accordingly.
Starch results are compared as starch DM. Answers reported per other moisture basis were recalculated accordingly.
Testweight results were compared in kg/hl. Answers reported in g/l were recalculated accordingly.
Wheat gluten results are compared as gluten AsIs. Answers reported per 14% moisture basis were recalculated accordingly.
Rapeseed oil results are compared as oil DM. Answers reported per other moisture basis were recalculated accordingly.
There are some results from instruments/applications, not adjusted by network. Those results are present in graphs and tables, but they are excluded from network statistics calculation.
